The Mason and Hamlin is such an amazing feat of piano engineering that in 1924, none other that the composer Maurice Ravel wrote: "While preserving all the qualities of the percussion instrument, the Mason & Hamlin pianoforte also serves magnificently the composer's concept by its extensive range in dynamics, as well as quality of tone. It is not short of being a small orchestra. In my opinion, the Mason & Hamlin is a real work of art".

It was on the Mason & Hamlin that Rachmaninov and countless other international piano artists, during the golden age of music, recorded for the Ampico. M&H was the piano that Rachmaninov used to record his Second Piano Concerto!
